Extended Learning Opportunities
Mission Preparatory School’s Extended Learning Program provides safe, supervised, quality care that is designed to meet the developmental and social needs of students.
The ELO-P strives to build self awareness, self management, responsible behavior, decision making, social awareness and relationship skills.
Read our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program Plan Guide.
To be added to the program's waitlist, please email Ms. Medina at imedina@missionpreparatory.org.
Extended Morning Program
The Extended Morning Program offers students the chance for self discovery, skill development and cooperative opportunities in a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment through caring and professional staff.
Our main goal is to maximize the allotted time so students accomplish something productive before their school day begins.
After School Program
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco is proud to partner with Mission Preparatory School to provide Extended Learning Opportunities for students. The afterschool program provides students with support for social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development and promotes physical health, all while providing a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and Mission Preparatory have partnered with community organizations to provide a variety of enrichment activities for students such as cooking, tutoring, sports, and art programming.
All students have the opportunity to participate while improving their communication skills, developing friendships, and enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence, in a supportive community with acceptance for all.
Ways to get involved
There are lots of ways for family members, guardians and community members to get involved at The Mission Preparatory School. Here are a few.
Family Engagement Committee
Family Engagement Committee (FEC) is a group of volunteer parents who want to help and support our Mission Prep.
We strive to bring the Mission Preparatory Community closer together while trying to achieve a financial goal. We complement and assist with initiatives that are aligned with the mission and vision of Mission Preparatory school as directed by the Executive Director.
Every caregiver at Mission Prep is part of FEC. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 8:30 a.m. in person and 6 p.m. via Zoom.
To learn more, please email fec@missionpreparatory.org.
Parent Seats on the Board of Directors
Mission Prep activities and affairs are conducted and all powers are exercised by or under the direction of our Board of Directors. The Board selects, oversees, and monitors the performance of the Executive Director.
The Board’s responsibilities include ensuring that our work drives towards the mission of the organization, overseeing strategy development and execution, participating in fundraising and ensuring financial health, and overseeing Mission Prep’s business model.
Board members shall serve a term of three years from the date of their appointments, or until their successors are seated. No Director shall serve more than two consecutive, three-year terms. Board meetings are conducted monthly.
Board members fulfill core Board responsibilities by learning about Mission Prep’s strategy and projects, building an understanding of Mission Prep’s budgeting and financial statements, preparing for Board and Committee meetings, contributing actively to at least one Board committee in the academic year (Governance, Finance, or Academics).
Qualified Parent/Guardian Board Representative candidates are those who plan to have children enrolled for the next three years. We value diversity of age/grade of child, background, race/ethnicity, language, etc. in Parent Board representatives.
There are a minimum of two available Parent/Guardian Board seats. The Board will elect new members based on a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the seated Directors. Any parents interested in joining the board should contact the Board leadership at board@missionpreparatory.org by August 14th. Parents interested in board membership should attend the August 20th board meeting (via zoom) to express their interest.
